Put-away Kindergarten Learning Centers
I am very fortunate to have a dedicated room for homeschool. Unfortunately, at this point in time, it is the “formal living room” right in the front of the house. I don’t want to bombard guests with banners and bulletin boards and posters when they arrive, so I had to come up with a way to keep things off of the wall. With the older 2, it wasn’t so hard because they really aren’t ones to utilize things like that. With my 5 year old, I need visuals as in any kindergarten classroom. The first board I made was really just a calendar board with weather choices, days of the week and months of the year.
Then I thought, “Why couldn’t I just have ALL of the things I want on the walls on the project boards and just set them up during school time?” So that’s what I did! I have not only made them for kindergarten learning centers, but also made a couple that are geared more toward my oldest 2. This is the writing center:
They can set this up on their desks and have some privacy while they are writing.
I made one for geography:
I also made some for math and reading/writing for my kindergartener:
I have baskets with other materials to go with the centers. Here is my son doing the math center with dominoes, dice, counters, flashcards and something to write with:
The possibilities here are endless! I am thinking of making a science themed board and putting things like the food chain, water cycle, frog/butterfly metamorphosis, etc. on it.
Have you used these boards for anything in your homeschool? Do you have any ideas for themes? Please, share them with me! I love new ideas!
