YAY! We are so excited to be launching our very first Bible study for preteens by preteens!  This is something that we have been planning for a while and we want to tell you a little bit about what we will be doing and what you can do if you want to follow along.

This Bible study is a result of me (I am Mom) looking for something that would allow MY preteens to study the Bible in a way that they could draw their own conclusions from Bible verses and apply it to their own lives. Of course, I will be there to help them along the way, but they are in a transition in life where they need to start doing things more independently, developing their own relationship with God. There is A LOT of material out there for teens, but it is a little early for them to read on some of the topics that are addressed and they just cannot relate to them. Also, the material out there for teens and preteens is fairly expensive! Each time I would spend money on a book for them, I would start reading it and realize that it was not for them.

I have personally been following Courtney at WomenLivingWell.com and her ladies Bible study group Good Morning Girls for about 3 years now. I absolutely LOVE what she does and really wanted to bring the idea to my older children. I really enjoy the way Courtney sets up her Bible reading plans. I also love the way she uses the internet to connect women that normally would never meet by encouraging them to study the Bible together. I really wanted something like this for my children too, but I just couldn’t find anything!

That is when we decided there needed to be a free, easily accessible, relatable Bible study for preteens…and we needed to be the ones to start it! We have come up with our topics, picked out our verses, and we are ready to share!

So, lets get started!

First of all, we will  give Bible verses for you to read. We will ask you to follow a S.O.A.P. note routine that you can either keep to yourself, share with us via our FaceBook page, or even share among your own personal group!

Which leads me to my next topic: Invite friends to study with you! It is always a great way to see scripture in a different light when you have friends that read along with you! You may be able to help each other understand topics a little better, and it will always grow your friendship with someone when you study God’s Word with them!

If you don’t know what a S.O.A.P. note is, that’s ok, I’m going to tell you:

S. stands for “Scripture.” You will write down your scripture for the day, or week, depending on the instructions.

O. stands for “Observation.” You will write down what you observe going on in the scripture.

A. stands for “Application.” You will write down how you can apply the lesson in the scripture to your own life.

P. stands for “Prayer.” You will write down a prayer to God asking him to help you apply what you have learned in your own life.

We will be starting this Bible study on Monday, January 12th, 2015. All you need is your Bible (an online version will even work!), a notebook, and a pen! All of our material will be FREE and archived on the site so you can access it at any point! We will also be posting everything on our FaceBook pages Sweet Dreams Sisters and Goodnight Guys.

We want to make sure that the lessons we are learning are able to be applied in the young lives of preteens. Our first topic is going to be titled, “Where Do I Fit In?”  We will talk about how hard it is to fit in when you are too old to play with the little kids and too young for the teenagers to want to hang out with and the conversation the adults are having is too boring!

I will be posting MORE information about how this is all going to work next week, along with links to our new FaceBook pages for the boys’ group and the girls’ group, and the reading plan for our first week of our study! Please, join us as we start on this new journey!
